- Foot Problems
When you have diabetes, proper foot care is very important!! Diabetes is a serious disease that can cause
debilitating nerve pain.
As a person with diabetes, you are more vulnerable to foot problems, because diabetes can damage your
nerves and reduce blood flow to your feet. The American Diabetes Association estimates that one in five
people with diabetes who seek hospital care do so for foot problems. By taking proper care of your feet,
most serious health problems associated with diabetes can be prevented.
Here are some diabetes foot care tips to follow.
Wash and Dry Your Feet Daily
*Keep sugars under control.
* Protect feet with hosiery.
* Never walk barefoot.
* Keep nails trimmed and prevent ingrown nail.
As a preventive measure we recommend evaluation by a foot doctor once every three months if you have a corn
callous or thickened nail and if no pathology, once a year.
Shoegear can cause multiple sores due to improper shoegear, you may need extra width or depth shoes.
